In our thoughtless life, when every one of us has a million duties and problems, it’s not easy to take anything else upon oneself. Especially when this requires from us spiritual forces, additional time or financial expenses.

It’s difficult to step up to an unknown unhappy person, support him with word and action, render specific help to organization supporting such people. Other people’s suffering destroy our harmonic picture of the world. Instinctively, we try to keep peace of our mind. That’s why we often find a simple explanation for injustice: “No wonder – he is of bad family, you see”. It’s difficult to accept that there could be no reason at all! That means that the same misery can fall on us, too. Such a thought causes fear and rejection. Therefore, certain courage is required to show attention towards an unknown boy or girl with severe health disorders. But every, even moderate help or fleeting attention is invaluable for them. You see, life of Russian disabled children or a little older youth for the absolutely most part is uncomfortable, disgracing and poor of merry events. Such young people need normal support: what is not given from birth, or deprived of as a result of injury or disease, can be a little compensated socially. However, the programs of adaptation and integration of such youth existing Russia are insufficient. Therefore, every cooperation with the ‘usual’ world is a beneficial event for them.

 It’s beyond our capacity to change the world. We can make young disabled people around us a little happier and teach our nearest people to do it. And the world will change – it will become kinder and better. In such a world, a place could be found not only for healthy and strong people. And, honestly, we ourselves will become a little happier in the changed world.

One of efficient and active ways to help disabled children and young disabled people of Kaliningrad region of Russia is contributing to the work of the Kaliningrad APPAREL.

We would not be able to perform our actions, namely:

• Arrangement of active informational & educational work on a wide range of subjects about existing rights and opportunities;  
• Implementation of training and rehabilitation programs to improve positive behavioral & communicative skills and life success; 
• Actions and events aimed at increase of effectiveness and improvement of quality of services received; 
• Attracting attention of the public to social problems;

Friends and supporters of the Kaliningrad APPAREL are people who share the position of our organization in the matters of helping disabled persons and solving their social problems, and give any support to our organization in a form, volume and period of time acceptable to it.

Friends and supporters of APPAREL:

• Share our goals and philosophy;  
• Are sincerely interested in disabled people to obtain dignity and self-respect, and in their many-sided, equal-right and full-value participation in life of society;  
• Help with their knowledge, experience, talent or find other ways of supporting; 
• Responsibly, punctually and conscientiously fulfill obligations undertaken by them; 
• Optimists enjoying well done work. 

Friends and supporters of APPAREL are very different people. All of them are united by the wish to help disabled people to implement their human potential and gain dignity and self-respect.

Their participation is extremely important for APPAREL as all our activists have different (serious enough) forms and grades of disability. Speech defects don’t allow carrying on telephone or personal negotiations, sight infirmities hinder from independent movement in the city or operatively working with documents, movement function disorders restrict the list of addresses of planned events or business meetings with only architecturally accessible buildings. Our friends’ and supporters’ support allows us to act considerably more successfully. Our friends and supporters are not only investors or event participants, they also are the most thoughtful and constructive critics. We heed their ideas and advices. Our friends and supporters receive: a special identity card, newspaper “Apparel-Info Kaliningrad”, invitations to actions conducted.

How to become a supporter of the Kaliningrad APPAREL?

You need a little to do it. First, declare you wish. Second, render assistance in our work. That could be at first glance little, but specific actions leading to positive results. For example:

• Discussing and developing new lines of activity (taking part in elaboration of a step-by-step plan and further implementation thereof, conduct of negotiations and personal meetings with potential partners, or whatever); 
• Representing interests and distributing information about APPAREL (taking part on behalf of APPAREL in events of other organizations, holding meetings and conversations of informational nature with potential investors, or whatever); 
• Strengthening the financial stability of APPAREL (promoting attraction of donations for financing of current expenses and planned events, or whatever); 
• Personally doing what one can financially to support the activity of APPAREL (periodical personal contributions or your family’s or your organization’s contributions, or whatever);  
• Any other legal assistance to current or prospective activities of APPAREL.
