Why do we need your assistance?
According to official UNO experts’ reports, disabled people make up approximately 10% of our planet’s population. The same disabled people proportion exists in Russia, too. About 87,000 disabled people live in Kaliningrad region of Russia. Approximately a quarter of that number consists of children and youth. The number of Russians having serious health disorders is gradually increasing. In Russia, a stable increase in the number of disabled children and impairment of their coevals’ state of health become perceptible.
Such a considerable group of children and youth, in spite of the existing social protection system, remains one of the most economically and socially unfavorable categories of Russia’s population.
Even medium forms and grades of disability considerably restrict the possibilities of young disabled people of Russia. They are locked up inside their places like prisoners in jail. They are not able to move freely, gain good education, find appropriate job and achieve financial independence and worthy life. Their passivity and dependant’s behavior are resulted from the impossibility to improve their existence conditions. In Russia, there are only isolated instances of successful judicial protection of rights and legal interests of disabled people.
Surviving, development and creation of acceptable living conditions of a concrete disabled person in Russia, it is everyday care to take by his/her family first of all. Successfulness of his/her life arrangement, training and employment also depend on persistence and financial status of near relatives.
The Kaliningrad APPAREL was specially created to help disabled children and youth, maintain and support their families. We have a head office in the regional center and representatives/partners in the district towns of the region. Our organization has a unique opportunity to promote efficient foreign and Russian methods and technologies of social work.
Your financial aid (any contribution) or support in any other form will help to improve life arrangement of disabled children and youth.
To purchase one postal envelope costs 10 to 15 rubles. APPAREL sends out printed materials of legal protection and information-reference nature to the very distant villages of the region. For the last 5 years, the Kaliningrad APPAREL sent more than 8,000 such letters;
To make one copy of specialized newspaper “Apparel-Info Kaliningrad” costs 10 to 15 rubles. In this newspaper, information on social organizations services is placed, texts of useful laws are printed, examples of way out of difficult life situations are given, articles are published about activity of disabled people of other regions of Russia and foreign countries. For the last 3 years, the Kaliningrad APPAREL published and free of charge distributed 10 issues of the newspaper in the total number of 20,000 copies;
To make and distribute among senior pupils and students one set of 3 booklets and a poster on prevention of risky behavior and propaganda of healthy style of life, costs 20 to 30 rubles. For the last 5 years, the Kaliningrad APPAREL published and free of charge distributed more than 13,000 copies of such materials;
To make one copy of a manual (brochure) on asserting by disabled people their rights and legal interests, costs 30 to 50 rubles. For the last 5 years, the Kaliningrad APPAREL published and free of charge distributed 6 such manuals (brochures) in the total number of 7,500 copies.
Your financial contributions will help APPAREL to develop the following lines of activity:
- Temporary and permanent employment assistance;
- Educating in methods for asserting one’s rights and legal interests;
- Legal consulting and psychological support;
- Publishing and distributing printed materials to cover opportunities and forms of rehabilitation of disabled people and their families;
- Holding seminars and trainings on development of personal abilities and communicative skills;
- Removing architectural and psychological barriers that hinder disabled people from taking part in everyday life of society;
- Conducting public campaigns to improve the public opinion in regard to disabled people and their organizations.

Our Russian friends receive a special identity card sent by us by post. They also receive newspaper “Apparel-Info Kaliningrad” and invitations to actions conducted.
The Kaliningrad APPAREL doesn’t disclose personal data and volume of contributions of our benefactors, doesn’t transmit their lists to any other organizations or private persons, and mentions specific names and facts only with their consent.
APPAREL has a bank account in Russian rubles only. The account details are given in Russian version of the site.
You can make a contribution in US dollars. Please make your contribution to the account of the authorized person of APPAREL. Authorized person of our organization is Sergey Kiselev, the chairman of APPAREL. He lost eyesight 5 years ago, but remains to be a leader of APPAREL. The bank accounts of APPAREL and authorized person are with the same bank. Sergey Kiselev will convert the funds entered his bank account into Russian rubles and place them on the bank account of APPAREL.
